Bristol Clean Air Zone postponed

Bristol's CAZ will start in summer 2022.

Bristol City Council was ordered to have its system for charging polluting vehicles in place by October 29 this year. But after a series of delays in submitting its plans to central government it will not launch until the summer of 2022. This was announced by the council on the 2nd of July 2021.

Under the CAZ, drivers of the most polluting HGVs will have to pay £100 to enter the zone.

The delay will allow the Bristol City Council to have more financial support to help citizens upgrade to cleaner vehicles. A new loans and grants scheme to help citizens and businesses upgrade their vehicles will be launched in the autumn of 2021.
